Welcome to Trailer Overload. This will follow my trailer reviewing posts, only will review multiple trailers within the same post. In this edition: We go back to college to find our kidnapped wife, while fighting off an alien invasion side by side with a slave and proclaiming ourselves as the law.
Monsters University
I am a fan of Pixar, and I quite liked Monsters, Inc, but I do not see the need for a prequel, as there really was never a need nor a demand for a film detailing what Sully and Mike did prior to working as scarers. And the one minute trailer does not give me much hope that this will defy expectations, but it's Pixar, and I will always have hope that their next film will be a good one, so please prove me wrong like you did with Up.
Monsters University will be released June 21st, 2013
Taken 2
The first Taken film took everyone by surprise by turning Liam Neeson into a cinematic badass. While I do like how the film follows on from the first to show the consequences of Neeson's badass trip through Paris, it looks very much the same as the first film. From the looks of the trailer alone, it feels like it'll be a retread of the first film in the same way that The Hangover: Part II was pretty much a retread of The Hangover. But if it is, let's hope it won't suffer from predictability like The Hangover: Part II did.
Taken 2 will be released October 5th, 2012. Trailer can be found here.
The Watch
This film has some star power behind it, being written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and starring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn and Jonah Hill. Plus, I like the idea of Britain's resident IT geek, Richard Ayoade, starring alongside these Hollywood types. But, the main problem is that I don't think this film looks funny, which does not bode well for a comedy film. I'd rather just wait and see how critics feel.
The Watch will be released July 27th 2012.
Dredd
Judge Dredd, a famous comic-book character neither with Marvel or DC, has had a movie previously, but when you have it stars Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider, a reboot is more of a no-brainer as opposed to an idea. Thankfully, the trailer looks pretty exciting, and Karl Urban appears to be hitting all the right notes as "The Law". The drug seems to be an excuse to include slow motion into the film, and this could go either way, either lending the film some stylish shots that will be wonderful to look at, or it will go into overload and make the film seem very much like a Zack Snyder film. I'm hoping for the former as opposed to the latter.
Dredd will be released September 21st 2012. The trailer can be found here.
Django Unchained
It's by Quentin Tarantino, need I say more?
Django Unchained will be released December 25th 2012, and makes for the perfect Christmas present.

Comments
Just kidding not gonna write such a short comment. I look forward to seeing Monsters university, but I cannot judge much from the teaser. It has a sit-com-like feeling to it, but of course it may not even be a scene in the film by the looks of it. I love those two characters so hopefully its got a good outcome. You are right, it does not give much expectation or hope.
Again good post. I'll need to do a trailer round up again.
Taken 2 could be good. I love that he has basically the same phone conversation with his daughter. Not again!
I can't get excited for The Watch.
Although very excited for Dredd. Love Karl Urban.
Can't wait for Django! Trailer looks great.
